It is an exhilarating time to be a part of Mount Vernon. The School opened the new year with a brand new MAC (Mustang Athletic Center), completing the first phase of the Charging Ahead campaign, and last Thursday families were invited to take self-guided tours of the new facility. The same evening, Head of School Dr. Brett Jacobsen shared his vision for the year as well as many of the milestones reached during the 2011-2012 school year. Afterwards, parents of Middle and Upper School students walked their children’s class schedules and met with classroom teachers. Capping off the evening, Dr. Jacobsen sent an important letter to families. The letter emphasized the importance of reaching the final phases of the Charging Ahead Capital Campaign, with recognition of the 72 families, foundations, friends, and grandparents who have graciously led the way to meet $3 million of the campaign’s $5 million dollar goal. Read the letter here.
If you missed the Head of School Address, a video of Dr. Jacobsen’s remarks will be posted to the School website in the coming days. In the meantime, here is a seven minute video the School community watched prior to Dr. Jacobsen’s remarks showing a preview of the MAC (Mustang Athletic Center), as well as the administration’s welcome back video spoof.
