Over the summer, the Outreach Committee has been preparing for MV Upper School’s Helping Hands Day, or HHD. What began several years ago as an annual day of service commemorating September 11th, has grown to a semi-annual event that encompasses our entire school community. The focus of Helping Hands Day is to help our local community and to promote participation in community volunteer service. Over the summer, we contacted numerous  organizations which are expected to join our efforts to promote community awareness.

The Outreach Committee includes 8 Upper School students, chosen because I believe the strengths and talents of each student will be an asset to help promote outreach within our school and community. They have demonstrated a true “servant’s heart.” The Committee is comprised of students from 9th through 12th grade. These students are active in many ways:  cheerleaders, honor students, athletes, artists, actors, singers, as well as volunteers on mission trips to Honduras and New Orleans. Their involvement with Outreach is yet another way they serve our school and community. Committee members are: Melanie Lane, Darian Bender, Dana Cohen, Morgan McConnell, Evan Tucker, Blythe Coward, Sarah Hall, and Jeff Lanzer.
