One specific highlight that emerged in the Middle School from the Research & Design process is Instructional Rounds. Similar to a group of doctors conducting rounds in a hospital, the Middle School team participates in Instructional Rounds, where the entire group observes a single teacher utilizing an MV designed instrument. All members of the rounds share lengthy observations with the teacher, but the teacher is in the driver’s seat with the ability to ask questions in order to seek clarification. So far, this has been a rich experience as teachers grow in their practice, ultimately benefitting from the learning experience of students in the classroom. The next iteration of Instructional Rounds will be incorporated in the other divisions.
