Laptop Program Overview

Beginning with the 2016-2017 school year, MVPS is instituting a "Bring Your Own Laptop" program in order to best meet the needs of our community. Details are below:

Laptop Purchases

Families will now be required to independently purchase a computer that is the best fit for their student(s) through any store or manufacturer. This individualized approach provides more flexibility for our students and families, empowering them to select the laptop that best suits their needs in and out of school. MVPS will no longer sell laptops.

Families who have previously purchased laptops through MVPS may continue using these laptops for school.

The warranties for these laptops remain with the device and will be honored by the manufacturer and their authorized service providers for the life of the agreement. The Technology department can assist in determining your remaining warranty.

Laptop Maintenance and Repair

With recent hardware and policy changes made by Apple, the School will no longer troubleshoot or repair hardware issues in-house. Important Details:

  • Families with School-purchased laptops may now work directly with Apple and the Apple Store for hardware repairs.
  • The School will continue to provide basic support in regards to connecting to the MVPS network, printing to MVPS printers, and basic software installation and troubleshooting.
  • The School can provide suggestions on laptop service providers, if needed.
  • In the event a student arrives at the School with a malfunctioning laptop, MVPS will provide a loaner for up to two weeks while the student’s computer is out for service with the families’ choice of service providers.
