The Academic Resource Center at Mount Vernon Presbyterian School provides assistance to students in Preschool through grade twelve. Our academic resource specialists collaborate with parents, teachers, and students to develop appropriate instructional and behavioral strategies as well as to offer referrals for additional support available in the community (private tutoring, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, and psychological educational testing). They also monitor students’ progress throughout the school year and provide various levels of direct support as needed.
Our academic resource specialists serve as educational consultants to all Mount Vernon students, teachers, and parents. The Academic Resource Center offers guidance for students in need of academic support throughout the year including observation, collaboration with teachers and parents, recommendations for classroom accommodations, and referrals to tutors and other private services.
The academic resource specialists facilitate appropriate accommodations for students with outside psychological-educational evaluations and coordinate extended time for both standardized testing and classroom curriculum.
