Service Learning

Mount Vernon strives to foster a spirit of service in our students well beyond a traditional service hour. Students practice service by approaching each day with gratitude, respecting others, and by assisting in any way they can. Each grade level partners with community organizations through initiatives such as Helping Hands Day and Share the Well Drives, developing empathy and and demonstrating impact.
Helping Hands Day
To commemorate and honor those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001, Helping Hands Day is a day of school-wide community service. The goal is to provide support to our communities while teaching our students the value of selflessness, compassion and responsibility.  Volunteering at various locations around Atlanta, our students learn that even small hands can make a big difference!
Share the Well Campaigns
The School holds a variety of collection drives to help the less fortunate both locally and internationally. Though we are approached by a large number of organizations, Mount Vernon Presbyterian School has two established drives each year, Toys for Tots in the fall and the Community Outreach Center food drive in the spring.
