Trip Description and Purpose:

Tennessee known as the Volunteer State is dear to the heart of every Tennessean. Rich in history MVPS students will visit President Andrew Jackson’s home and study the impact that the westward movement had on Native American Indians and how Tennessee positioned itself on slavery. Nashville, Tennessee is one of ten cities around the world named as best in the U.S. to travel in 2017. Nashville is known as a go to destination for the arts including painters, jewelers, writers and of course country music. Mount Vernon students will participate in a one day art workshop at the Oasis Art Center by a nationally known artist, participate in a live recording session, experience hands on morning with Grandma’s Southern Tent Camp Cooking, spend a morning with an artist at Scarratt Art Studios, Vanderbilt University, tour of the Frist Museum of Art, tour of a international publishing house, visit major universities and enjoy the sound of country music and dinner date at the Grand Ole Opry.
